Ryzen 5 3600 really odd temps

Just got my new pc running up and as a new ryzen user ive got no idea about the temps my cooler is聽Be Quiet! Pure Rock CT on avrg with chrome open temps are spiking from 38-63 and sometimes up to 70+ same thing if ive just got afterburner open. Any thoughts about this im confused as to what could cause such high temps with minimal load. And ive heard that 95 is max so if ive got this high on idle gaming would be around 85-95 and that to be seems insane.

since its very low load with high temps i suspect bad contact between cpu and cooler or no thermal paste. reinstall the cooler and reapply thermal paste, be sure to install cooler applying even pressure to every corner, ie screw in a star pattern but dont turn the screws all the way until theyre all seated.

Not an option because its a prebuilt pc from a local pc shop that would void warranty? are you sure it would the paste? because its spiking like that wouldnt it stay constant high if it was the paste?

this isnt normal behaviour for a ryzen 3600 under a third party cooler, it wouldnt even reach those temps with the stock cooler. check if theres any overclock settings in the BIOS. maybe the whoever built it did an overclock or overvolted? im really just shooting in the dark. My first thought wouldve been to reinstall the cooler, but if u cant then you are going to have to dig in the bios in search for any settings they changed in terms of voltages, core clocks etc.

Its normal since ryzen. Switches voltages pretty often to wake the cores and boost up when needed. Especially if you are using the monitoring tool which the cpu think its a load. If you want to make it consistent, either make the voltage stable or overclock it. I put mine on 1.35 qt 4.2ghz and it stayed at about 40 idle and 66-73 when full load.聽

This. Some motherboards have settings that sort of automatically pre-overclock by automatically increasing voltage or boosting all cores to the same clock speed. Also, go to your windows power settings and set it to high performance to keep the cpu at 100% clock speed. The temp could be jumping around so much because the clock speed could also be constantly changing. See if the temperature stabilizes after you change that.

Have you stress tested at full load yet? If so what is the max temp it reaches under load? If it thermal throttles under load I would contact the shop you bought if from and ask them to remount the cooler for you.

Stablizes at 55 c ish with 2 tabs of chrome open, afterburner ,logitech hub. but to be noted i havent installed all the windows updates yet and all of the drivers are windows installed for the time being. What should i look for in the bios for overclocking etc? i dont want to touch anything that i dont need to.

I agree with @MustafaXIX, probably either overclocked or not sufficient mounting pressure or thermal paste or all of the above. Be-Quiet has an installation video for this cooler (LINK) to help you out.

I am not sure about voiding the warranty. I guess that would depend were you live.

However you will need some thermal paste and you need to clean the old stuff off. Only use fast evaporating cleaners like isopropyl alcohol at 75% or higher or non oiling contact cleaner (WD Specialist or CRC Contact Cleaner). Clean it with a cloth or use kitchen paper.

As for the thermal paste, use whatever you like, if you're not overclocking, these days there is not that much of a difference. Pretty much all pastes starting above 6聽USD are good.

Examples would be Noctua's NT-H1, Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, Arctic Silver 5.聽

As for BIOS settings, you can simply load the default settings. Don't forget to activate XMP for the memory afterwards.

I just ran cinebench and temps stayed at 84-85 during the test and got 3493 points does this seem okay? cpu fan rpm was 1500
Next up im gonna take a look in the bios what voltage should i set and what clock speeds?

55c under light load and 85c at max load sounds about right for the cooler you have. since its not overheating I would just leave the bios settings alone. For comparison's sake I have the stock cooler on聽my 3600 and it hits 93c under full sustained load so your temps are just fine. The entire graph is about 3 minutes ish

Maybe but the spikes that i just noticed when completly afk and just afterburner open seems bizarre

And it jumps between like 38 to 70 under light load so its really weird never came across anything like this with intel
