Is it better to get a 1660ti (newer) or a 1070 (older) ?

In my head (because I am ignorant) I'm leaning towards the *newer* card.

 

I currently sport a 1050ti. I bought RDR2 and it's clear I need to upgrade. Need a little guidance.

1660 super is where it's at

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

The question here is what’s the rest of your system, you may get bottlenecked by cpu

If you're not scared to dive in the used market, you can find 1070s that are pretty affordable

For what its worth i got a 1070 Ti last October for $225 usd on ebay.  I normally opt for new though and stick with a brand known for good customer support for warranty reasons.  Its your call if you shop around you can get more performance for less $ but there are risks going the used route.

Agree. The price/performance ratio is at a good spot, and it should perform similar to the 1070. Also you get the "newer hardware" vibe out of it.
