Is my pc not good enough? - need an upgrade?

Hello everybody, i have a very highend pc, and its amasing. But something is pretty anoying though. When i play cs:go i get about 150 fps in the matches, but for a GTX1070 i dont think that thats a high number of fps, especially not with a 144 hz monitor, do you guys know why? - and are my specs too low? - could something need an upgrade?

GPU: GeForce GTX 1070 CPU:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7500 CPU @ 3.40GHz

Hukommelse: 8 GB RAM (7.95 GB RAM brugbar) (2666 mhz i think) 

Aktuelle opløsning: 1920 x 1080, 144Hz 

Microsoft Windows 10 Home

and 2 SSD's with 500 gb each.

Counter strike is CPU bottle necked, Your CPU is mid range at best.

The 1070 should get about 180-200

You pc is not high end by any measure. 1070 is still decent enough, but 4 core 4 thread cpu is the source of your issues. You could get something like i7-7700 which has 8 threads and would make things better.

What's so "very highend" about it?

A low to midrange GPU, a low end CPU, a low end ammount of RAM and a low end to mid-range monitor - I don't see how it makes any type of high end.

 

You need a stronger CPU. And more RAM. And a stronger GPU, but only after you upgrade the CPU.

it would have been called that 2-3 years ago. now no but not that long ago i5 were decent.

 

sell CPU+board+ram move to a 3600 or 3600x on a b450 board and get 16gb of 3000-3600 ram

If he has the money then yes, this is the best course of action, if he does not, then upgrading cpu might be his only option.

In my eyes 1070  is mid low end, don't you agree? If he's only playing cs go and similar he still can get by with 1070 don't you think?

the issue is 6700 and 7700 and the K versions, haven't dropped in price much. often at the same price as a 3600x

 

a 1070 fights with a 2060. it is mid range.

My 970 and RX580 I'd now call lower mid.

In my area I can get 7700 for a 100 euros or so, not too terrible.

I can't find a non k selling for less. only the lower power T sku from china.

I can find a few for 100 - 120 euros in my local "ebay" of sorts, but that might not be possible in other areas like Sweden for example, used hardware is very expensive there, I assume op is Swedish, might be wrong.

True, and CS:GO doesn't use up many cores.

The problem is the CPU frequency of the i5-7500 -- 3.4 GHz Base, up to 3.8 GHz max boost.

 

I've got a GTX 1070 paired with a i5-4690K still, and does pretty good in CS:GO on a 144Hz display.

Only difference is it is running on a 4.8 GHz overclock across all cores, versus 3.4 GHz on the i5-7500.
