Can I use a sata m.2 in a Pci m.2 adapter?

Dafydd Taylor

I got a PCI to m.2 adapter but I have a 128GB sata m.2 drive with that work for the OS drive?

depends strongly on the motherboard and SSD in question

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD to PCIe 3.0 x 4 Adapter Card with Aluminum Heatsink, m.2 pcie Adapter, https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07RSYRFW9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_D0pGEbWF5CBRH That’s the adaptor.

A SATA SSD will likely not work in this.

This adapter seems like a 'dumb adapter', as in it doesn't convert any signals; I see no controller on it. There is also not a SATA connection on it, which is why I would have to say; no it doesn't work with SATA M.2 SSD's.

On top of that, it specifically mentions M key M.2 SSD's (which SATA SSD's usually are B+M) and I see no one in the reviews running an M.2 SATA SSD.
