Welp, Here it is. My build so far!

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/NerdNinja/saved/3JyZ

This build will be used for gaming and 3d modeling work along with photo/video editing and rendering.

So far I am SUPER happy with this build and how I am able to keep it under my $2000 limit.

But I'm not here to show off or anything like that, Nah that would be childish of me, I'm here looking for CONSTRUCTIVE (<<<emphasis on that word there :P) criticism. Anything you would like to point out or say what's wrong I would take and learn from so have at it!

Personally I'm just happy about how far I've come in my computer knowledge! I mean seriously! My first planned rig had a Xeon processor in a AM3+ socket MOBO! Ahh memories.

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

You could save about 200$+ on PSU, RAM and mainboard, without affecting your performance by any bit.

By the way what's wrong with that 290x? D:

Edit: If you are going to edit, render etc. alot, stay with 16GB RAM, save on your mobo and psu and get a 4770k instead.

CPU: i7-4770k (LM modded) - MB: GA-Z87X-UD3H - RAM: HyperX, 16GB 1866MHz - GPU: Palit GTX 980Ti Super - Storage: 1TB HDD + 500GB/120GB SSD (850 Evo/840) - Monitor: Predator XB271HU - PSU: 700W BeQuiet 80+ Gold

A few minor tweaks:

  • Kraken X60 cpu cooler - fits the case, can be quieter than the H100i, cools better than the H100i.
  • Less expensive but equal performance memory.
  • A better psu. I left it at 850W presuming you intend to go CrossFire in the near future. If you don't plan to do so, I would suggest XFX P1-650B-BEFX.

You should cut down on the PSU (:

EDIT: You could go for something like this for the PSU. 650w is still more than enough to power this.

Too much RAM(go 8 gigs) and too much PSU for gaming IMO.

I would stick with Seasonic for the PSU.

Yea, thats what I would do.

Plan to do Crossfire in the future so that explains the PSW.

I plan to go crossfire 290's in the future that's why the PSU is so large. And the 290 is from the only place I have found that sells it for MSRP.

Have you already bought anything?

Nope

I'm gonna take this into consideration! :)

And now a question to ALL of you. Can you see the notes I have on PcPartPicker? I explain that I'm gonna upgrade to crossfire so that explains the PSU. I thought you would see the notes so if not Sorry. :/

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Have to admit that I missed the notes, sorry.

Now that I've read them two things occur to me. Planning an upgrade from an i5-4670K to an i7-4770K seems like a waste unless you have a planned used for the i5. If you live near a Microcenter you could check out the in-store i7-4770K pricing - it is often around US$255.

Instead of the G10 cooling solution you might want to consider using a Swiftech H220 or possibly an H320 (I've seen reports that it would fit, but one would want to ask Nzxt for confirmation). This would allow for cooling the cpu and extending the loop to include at least one gpu. A second gpu could be added perhaps with an additional radiator. Both of these AIO are designed to be easily expanded into a semi-custom loop. Videos of doing so can be found at the Swiftech site. I believe Powercolor makes a liquid cooled R9 290X, but I don't know the cost or availability.

Are you in the US or UK?

I would get a lower Corsair RM series PSU and you need another water cooler right? Arent you watercooling the CPU and GPU?

I think I'm gonna stay away from the RM series. I had another thread that had a massive argument about the secondary capacitors and I don't want to deal with any of it.

And yes I am cooling the CPU and GPU with AIO coolers atm. In the far off future I'll do a custom loop but that's another day.

. Sadly I do not have a Microcenter or any tech store other than radio shack and this other place that might sell a i7's. I'll have to go check. but that cooler is not available in the US.

The H220 and H320 are available through NCIX US. A version of the H220 is sold as the Cooler Master Glacer 240L which is available in the US.

Too bad about your proximity to a Microcenter.

I'll look into the cooler and price comparisons with the tubing fittings fluid etc. Looks cool and it's quite innovative!

and yea, nearest microcenter if 4 hrs away according to google. Sucks to be me.

WoodenMarker how is it that you always seem to find my posts? haha anyway the I will be editing youtube vids and possibly game design. Programs would be a vid editing software I don't know what one yet. and Autodesk Inventor and Maya and maybe CAD.

So you're just getting into learning about how to work with the programs? For school?

Yea for that. also for personal use and I am hoping to study in this field for college and possibly get a job with this. With inventor I have pretty good knowledge since I can take classes on it in my high school but for everything else i'm trying to self teach.

You won't need much more than any decent modern i5 for that.

How's this look? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Vfl2

Ok looks quite nice. However there are a few issues with it.

One: That MOBO only had one expansion slot and I plan to add another R9 290 in the future.

Two: Why all the fans!?!?!

Three: Not sure if 750W would sustain two 290's

Four: Why is there a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo as an extra part?

Click on the newegg link. The pictures for the motherboard are wrong.

You're going to cf 290's. That's a bit of fans. I assumed you were going to silence. If not, you could skip the aftermarket ones.

It's enough. It's not exactly a cx750 or anything.

Easier to sort. The 212 Evo for the cpu and H55 for the 290x.

Ok that one looks better!

I was planning to watercool the 290's with the g10. I think the stock case fans will be fine. not gonna replace them all.

your sure? even with an overclocked cpu and 2 overclocked gpu's? I'm thinking off in the future here.

ok that kinda makes sense. But why didn't you just put in the 212 evo as the main cooler and the H55 as the extra?

It should be just fine.

It was just easier for me. If it bothers you, flip them around.
