Kvm slower than virtual box?

installed kvm with gui, and its slower than virtual box to load even the installer. also on the vm's reboot it complained no hyperviwion then loaded. i have an 8086k in my system and all virtualization settings are on in bios. heard this should be good for playing windows only games. why is it do slow?

 

ubuntu 16.04 host.

It should be faster.

 

But the gui isn't great, so that might be why it seems slow.

 

For playing games your gonna want gpu passthrough.

how do i make it not worse than virtual box? i do not have the skills to do gpu passthrough via commandline.

oh and i checked. same specs id allocate to virtual box are on kvm yet its still like this. even internet in it is slower than host and box. @Electronics Wizardy

wait does kvm go by threads or cpus? in virtual box its cpus so i give it 5/6. if kvm uses threads 10/12 would be it but i dont want to lag it terribly

your gonna need gpu passthough to play almost any modern games, no matter the vm software.

almost all vm software does it by threads, so you give it however many you want.

okay ill give it to the vm, then look up a way to bypass gpu check in games. it thinks its using basic display adapter, but its screen tearing, sign my nvdia card is being used.

if you haven't done gpu passthrough to the vm, the graphics performance will be awful. You need to do that to get reasonble graphics performance.

i csnt get phys X, but asside from that how is this working? nothing is running on host. picture in one after this.

is there a refristry hack to trick the vm into at least thinking its integrated? itll allow higher settings and bioshock 2 is running right now with screen flickering

Is this in virtual box? In kvm at least you can change what cpu the host sees

What virtual gpu setting are you running?

no virtual box doesnt even say a real cpu, kvm sees broadwell.

 

as for the gpu, all the windows vm says is "microsoft basic display adapter." i do not know anything else or muxh on windows. hard os.

Like you've been told multiple times, yes, that's all you're going to get unless you do GPU-passthrough.

and will closing/shutting down the vm fix host if this passthrough bricks it?

i guess ill test virtual box bioshock. see if any better. kvm's wifi is even slower and non-gpu related issue.
