Hi everyone. Right to the point. I have a Asus Maximus X Hero, which comes with the Intel I219-V onboard network. Well that part decided not to work. Went from intermediate to non functioning in a day. Anyway, I am out of warranty so no new board. Thankfully I have a Intel E1G44HTBLK I340-T4 from DIY NAS I wasn't using. Am I gaining or losing functionality going to an older but server part? I am just curious to the difference to both parts and how it benefits or doesn't benifit my build. Any information is helpful. Thank you.

Even though it's older it's still Gigabit and if anything comes with more features than your built-in NIC as that's usually the natural progression of the enterprise. They get the features before the features show up in desktops.

That's a good point.
