X570 ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi issues

PcNewbieCA

Hello, I have been having issues with my Wi-Fi , It seems to be stable for about 5-10 minutes and then it disconnects for about 10-20 seconds and then it goes back to normal?

It keeps happening when im in game/call and its really annoying because it just kicks me out.

I am trying to figure out why this happens because its my first time using the WiFi because I moved my setup away from my modem but im still near it just not long enough for my ethernet wire to connect.

So I decided why not use the wifi that it comes with

but here I am having issues with connection and disconnecting

If I am getting a longer ethernet cable If I have to, whats the better one? whats the difference between cat6 and cat5e

This is my pc build

I would invest in a longer cable. Wi-Fi depending on the setup and environment can misbehave like this and figuring out the cause is always a pain. If wired Ethernet is an option for you definitely go that route. It makes a difference over Wi-Fi.

Is there a preference in which type? Cat6 and cat5e or whatever the options are

What router do you use?  I use the Crosshair VI integrated Wifi 24/7

Incorrect. RJ-45 based cables are limited to 100m period, per the electrical spec. It doesn't matter if it's Cat8, Cat6, or Cat5e.

Cat7 is also not a TIA/EIA standard and is not recognized as such, it's only an ISO spec and nothing more and as such has no electrical standard to adhere to and while most will give you gigabit it should be noted that Cat6 and Cat6a will both give you 10Gbps (albeit at 55m and 100m respectively) and have to adhere to TIA/EIA standards to be considered in spec.

Cat5e is fine. If you think you might have use for 10Gbit in the future you could look into Cat6 (or Cat6a for 10Gbit up to 100m).
