I just wanted to get some thoughts from experienced users. I went from a Dell U2410 to an AOC AG271QG 144 hz IPS panel. Don't get me wrong, the step up in res and additional hz are very nice, but I've got to say that I really miss the color accuracy and beautiful picture that the old 2410 had.

Do you all think that going back to 60 hz would just be too much after having a 144hz? Is there a monitor that would offer a nice middle ground? Bear in mind, I'm 41 at this point and rarely if ever play anything that is not single player.  Don't get me wrong.  It is a very nice monitor, but it just feels a bit dark and the colors don't 'pop' like the 2410.

Thanks!

The reason why I use a CRT, it is the perfect middle ground if not better.

You can try adjusting the color settings and use the monitor in the dark to see if that helps.

Also here is a review I found: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/aoc-ag271qg-agon-27-inch-g-sync-monitor,4889.html

Thank you, that is very helpful.  I think you might be just right.  I grew up on CRT and they were always better.

Get urself a good VA panel display like the Dell S3220 or LG 32GK850g-b. You'll get better contrast and darker black levels making the image pop a bit more.

otherwise , if u have the space, wait for LGs 48" OLED to release as its 4k 120hz with variable refresh and BFI.

Wow, that OLED looks incredible.  6 ms is just fine as I noticed no issues with the old U2410.  I must be one of those folks that doesn't notice input lag much.  Will be buying that beast.

Indeed.... the 48" CX OLED is what ill be upgrading to once it releases, finally retiring my dying Plasma. Alas with the CORVID-19 virus and delays with the building of the manufacturing plant that will be producing the 48" OLED panels, i suspect the release date for the LG CX 48" OLED will be in the latter half of this year. It was originally expected around April, which is when LG usually release new TV's ..but i cant see that happening.

As for input latency. (Note the 1ms, 2ms, 5ms, 6 ms etc 'response time' spec is NOT input lag/latency)

For TVs anything below 20ms is good, for Monitors below 10ms is fine and below 6ms (for above 60hz panels) is good.

The CX OLED will apparently have somewhere in the region of 5ms, slightly faster than the current 55" C9 OLED TV when it runs 1080p 120hz, which has been tested as having a input latency of around 7ms.

The technical fastest input latency u can get on any display is half that of the frame time due to the way frames are 'drawn' on the display (from the top down). This means the fastest a frame can be measured at is as soon as that frame being drawn reaches the middle of the display (point of measurement), thus at 120hz the fastest u can get is 8.33ms / 2 = 4.16ms, so the CX will be pritty much as fast as is possible.

Response time for the OLEDs. .all OLEDs in fact, is below 0.2ms ..not 2ms. .not 1 ms.. 0.2ms. Effectively instant. The only blur u get with OLEDs is persistence blur form the sample and hold technique of displaying frames, which is used in all modern displays. To more or less eliminate that kind of blur u   need BFI and thats why the CX 48" is going to be a killer display as its going to include BFI (black frame insertion / it flickers the image)

When it comes to the CX 48" running 4k 120hz will require a HDMI 2.1 capable GPU, so upgrading to this years upcoming GPUs would be required if u want ot run 4k 120hz (1440p and 1080p 120hz would still be possible using HDMI 2.0).
