My new build is so unstable.

DU_HA55T

So I built a new PC last month, and it is so much less stable then my previous PC. I used to be able to leave the old one on for months on end, playing game after game after game. With the new PC, it pretty much shits the bed after playing any games requiring a few hard restarts a day.

The symptom is that after playing pretty much any game, windows is completely useless. Explorer and many other windows start flickering and are completely unresponsive, hence the hard restarts. If I don't play any games the system seems to be fine.

Specs:

GTX 1080FE (carryover from older PC)

I7 9700k

Corsair 16GB RGB 3200mhz RAM

Samsung M.2 500GB SSD

Samsung 870 Evo SSD

Asus Strix Z390-F

Corsair AF760(?) Power supply

XMP-II is enabled

My hunch is the RAM is the issue, but I'm ill-equipped and uninformed on how to check my hunch. It is not included in the qualified vendor list of compatible RAM.

Am I on the right track, or do one of you know what could cause the symptoms?

Did you use the windows install from your last pc?

No, fresh install. Actually, maybe. I installed it fresh, but it had a lot of my unusual tweaks done by default. Maybe some configurations are stored with my Windows account.

You can check ram by memtest or using one at a time to see if they show up in bios or crash obviously.

Could be PSU unless it is new but corsairs a pretty good, however everyone has a mixed bag.

I'd just wipe and see if that fixes it. Make sure you format the drive as well.

Try to DDU gpu drivers, I'm thinking you might just have a funky windows install too, possibly

Seems like it to me, but I was hoping I wouldn't need to reinstall.
