I need some advice since I am building my first custom keyboard.

@geo3 Does KBD fans usually take so long to deliver or is it cause of the virus? Or does it always take a predicted 30-60 days for it to get to your location even before the virus??

Usually 20 to 30 unless you buy the expensive shipping then it's a few days.

Work with a red 60 percent aluminum case, like a Tofu? If not, can you list a red aluminum or even plastic 60 percent RED case and plate that would be compatible? Also, which one of the PCBs do you believe is better?

The first is the exact same PCB that I posted before, the one that we weren't sure about the programing on.  The second has a non standard layout, so you add an extra layer of challenge in finding key caps that will fit every key.

Both will fit a tofu or pretty much any 60% tray mount.

Here's an alternative, but I'd personally get a tofu over this one. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32850797157.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.59bb4491AuaMHf&algo_pvid=00d5eae4-41a9-4fc4-ab31-1ec6d4c8d696&algo_expid=00d5eae4-41a9-4fc4-ab31-1ec6d4c8d696-0&btsid=0be3769015835938169347883e9c82&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

Thank you for being patient. These 3 things are my final questions. Once you respond I will give you the "Mark as Solved"

I would say 95%+ of plates should fix a standard layout 60%. But if you go with a non standard all bets arr off, although PCB's product page often recommend a compatible plate.

I don't know what they flashed it with. You should be able program it with what ever functionality you want with QMK.

Oh, it looks like it's not compatible with QMK. Maybe consider a different PCB if programmable is important.

@geo3 Programming is not that important to me, I just wish to know if this PCB has a active function key that allows one of the alphabet keys to act as arrows. Kinda like the Ducky 1 2 Mini

That I don't know. A good portion of the product page is in Chinese.

https://mechboards.co.uk/product/hs60-pcb/ I found this one  which seems a bit nicer. It does support QMK.

@geo3 So the stabs needed are kinda out of stock. Are there stabs that are made in the US and not in China since the shipping to have China ship it costs alot due to the Coronavirus apparently. Also, will screw in stabilizers work on a Hot Swap?

Seems a lot of places are currently low on stock due to the virus. Most manufacturing is in China.

What about these. https://www.1upkeyboards.com/shop/parts-and-tools/parts/gmk-screw-in-stabilizers/

Screw in work in the same holes as clip in.

Wait, are there any stabilizers that are a little cheaper on Amazon or just some place that can ship things quicker that work for 60 percent? Because I am going to lube the stabilizers so I don't need the highest of quality. Just good enough that they don't come missing things or such.

@geo3 So apparently the first PCB that we weren't sure had programming(GK61) does not support PCB mounted stabs. Is that an issue?

Since the Gk61 is standard layout, does that mean this:  https://www.amazon.com/Stabilizers-Anodized-Aluminum-Positioning-Keyboard/dp/B06XNQ9BLT?th=1 or this https://www.amazon.com/stabilizers-Universal-Anodized-Aluminum-Positioning/dp/B06XJ5RLD9?th=1 would work?

Are stabs cross compatible with both PCB mount or Plate mount or do I have to find specific stabs that are designed for Plate mount since the GK61 has no PCB mounts for stabs? Can you recommend me good stabs that work with the plate mount GK61? Relatively cheap since I plan to lube them.

Both those plates will work for a standard layout.  The first one is ANSI only, which is fine if you want a US layout. If UK or other EU country layout then get the second one.

Plate mounted stabs kinda suck. I would definitely avoid them.

@geo3 Are stabs designed for just plate mount or just PCB mount or are they cross compatible? Like do I have to specifically look for PCB mount stabs or will stabs just work with both plate and PCB?

@geo3 Is there a way to tell if stabs are plate mount or PCB mount? I looked at some Durocks and it did not say anywhere if they were PCB mount or Plate mount. I had to ask someone on discord if they were PCB mount in order to tell.

Are these stabs: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Cherry-GMK-Screw-Stabilizers/dp/B082Z5P769/ref=sr_1_3?crid=AZX0QBZ6B089&keywords=everglide%2Bstabilizers&qid=1583703324&sprefix=Everglide%2B%2Caps%2C141&sr=8-3&th=1 any good? Are they PCB mount or Plate mount?

@geo3 My Kailh Box Jades just arrived and the switch opener that you told me that you use. I am trying to open these things but I have no idea how to get it to work. Can you send a video or something?

@geo3 Is it bad that when I first did it, I pressed down on the switch instead of the casing?

The housing is a part of the switch. I'm not sure what you meant?

I put it in the switch puller, then I pushed down on the green box itself instead of the plastic around it. Is it bad to put that much pressure on the green switch itself instead of the plastic part?
