PSU Advice

I currently have an i9 9900k and an RTX 2080 Super

I feel like my current power supply is a bit in adequate, any advice is appreciated

My PSU is

Thermaltake Smart RGB 700W PSU

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermaltake-256-Color-Supply-Warranty-PS-SPR-0700NHSAWK-1/dp/B07FVZ1YSK

The PSU is indeed a quite a bit lower end than I would recommend with these parts.

A Corsair RMX, Be Quiet Straight Power 11 (Gold) or BitFenix Formula Gold/Whisper would be a good upgrade.

A 650W PSU should be plenty. Just to be clear, we're talking a single RTX 2080 Super, right?

I've just ordered a Corsair RM750x 80 PLUS Gold

I know you said that a 650W should be fine but thought I'd give myself a bit of space if I ever go for a CPU OC etc

I can't really get mad at you now, since I have a system that hardly needs a 550W PSU, while I have an RM750X (older version)

The upside of having a higher wattage is that it stays quiet for longer too!

if he is gonna get a focus, he should probably not get the focus fx that you got. rather get the focus gx. as the focus gx is as far as we know, without the issues related to the fx.

also not all seasonic 750w are great, not to mention that is a wattage, and not a specific PSU.

just fyi, you will probably never exceed 500w peak powerdraw on your build.

you did the right choice. A little headroom here and there won't hurt anyone. If you'd OC both CPU&GPU, and run RGB fans-strips, the extra watts might even come handy. Fine decision

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )
