Do anybody knows what causes this.

Multiple factors can be the cause.

The Display cable (try swapping for another) , the output port (HDMI or Displayport) Overclocks on Vram/Core for the GPU, or problematic power delivery on the GPU via a notsoGood Powersupply.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Could also be a dying display controller.

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)
