Ryzen vs Xeon

Hey,

I was thinking to upgrade my xeon e3 1246v3 to ryzen 2600x but I saw that the single core benchmark for Xeon(although marginally) is better nd as far as I know most of the well optimized AAA Titles won't spread over more than 4 cores so is this upgrade really worth doing??

as in? Haswell at 3.9GHz is not going to beat a 2600X from my memory.

That's wrong... Many can do 8 cores.

That's wrong... Many can do 8 cores.

I don't remember where I saw the 4 core thing.

Actually here in India it's too difficult to maintain a stable overclock cz the ambient temps. Are too high....

Some years ago most games didn't use more than 4 threads but that's not true anymore.

Skylake at 4GHz matches the 2600X in Single Thread loads(wins some, loses some), no way a Haswell can beat it on lower clocks.

 

Modern games will gladly take more than 4 cores, 6 cores without HT is already suffering on some games.

ST Loads = Single Thread Loads (even takes hyper-threading out of the equation...)

I personally wouldn’t go lower then a ryzen 3600. The new consoles should be 8 core 16 thread Ryzen cpu and if that’s true we’ll see games using more threads since it won’t be so gimped like the last consoles and the garbage jaguar cpu that’s in them 

No cpu mobo or ram atm

The 3600 is a solid cpu, and who knows what’s gonna happen with the 4000 series cpus. I’ll probably sell my 3600x and get the new 8 core when it comes out. 
 

I have no complaints with my 3600x, for gaming it’s been great. 

No cpu mobo or ram atm
