Sex is natural driving force, a component of evolution, even if you never teach them a thing they will still have the urges and know roughly what to do.  Watch the Blue lagoon.

 

 

I say teach them around 10-11, just in time for them to understand what they are facing and to be informed enough when it happens not to make a mistake.  I wouldn't go any earlier as to much information during early development can be counter helpful to a well adjusted young mind. 

 

I am speaking both as an early developer and a parent with 10 and 13 year old boys.

+1 For the "each kid is different" school of thought. A good guess would be anywhere between 8 and 10 but it really should be a case by case thing.

meh, a few people from my school tough around 12-13 and a lot of them lost there virginity at 13 ... so wrong, kids are immature and will experiment if they get the urge but when they learn about something they are more intrigued by it and there for more prone to doing it ... if there was a way to teach as and when they ask about it (and hope they ask first)

As soon as possible! I think around 11 or 12 would be probably the best age, as probably somewhere around that period the sexual interest develops. I wouldn't even start talking about "Where do the babies come from" but rather talk about protection and the consequences when you neglect said protection. I was never a person, who likes to sugarcoat everything, so I don't see any point in paraphrasing the stuff they're going to learn a year or two later. 

 

To me, having a kid that knows about the consequences of not doing certain things, will think twice about being "adventureous"

Good point, I'd also make sure to make sure to my kid, that the things happening in these films aren't real at all. Sex in RL is nothing like porn, and I'm sure that many kids have problems with their self - esteem when it comes to sex because of porn.

I voted for 7 as I learned about stuff like that at age 7. I'm kinda open minded and curious at that time. but pretty much on most people would be 12-14

I "learned" about it as in some weird kid told me that this goes into that at the age of 9, and I was properly taught at 11, and I think that's a good age
