monitor issue ?

so recently i bought a video card & i get flashes with black and white bars periodically but i am not sure what the cause i. it also goes black periodically but then goes back to normal within seconds so i really have no idea why

Specs?

Have you tried the Igpu? or the monitor in another pc?

Anything to do with vibration or bumping the thing?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Did it have a different video card before?  Do you still have it?
 

Could be something is wrong with new GPU, could be nothing is wrong but connections are just not seated as hard as they could be.

the only thing I can say is that it doesn’t seem to me like it behaves like software.  Which doesn’t mean it isn’t.

It  could even be something as evil and annoying as a partially cracked solder joint.  That last one is so obnoxious that it should always be left as least likely.

 it gets moved around my room a bit but it seems like it's the hdmi cause i just checked and it was  loose &  i don't know why  i  am still using hdmi and not display port

There are things hdmi can do that DisplayPort cannot.  Like have long cheap cables, or a few other things.  Cables are generally designed to wear out before ports are because cables are cheaper to replace.  New cable may be in order.

yeah i have used it since 2014, i don't use audio through HDMI  but its a 144 hz monitor. i just dont know a good display port cable to buy

It’s digital.  There is no “good” or “bad”.  It works or it doesn’t.
