7790 1gb or 2gb?

I am planning on getting a 7790 to upgrade from my 5770. I want to go this route so I can use mantle to help out my CPU as well. I was just wondering to go the 1gb route or the 2gb. Does it give better performance compared to the cost?

For one, we have no idea how much it costs for you. Price varies depending where you're shopping.

you double posted :( and then re posted :((

On some games @1080p, 2 gigs will be much appreciated. If you are ok with the price difference then go for 2 gigs.

You can also get R7 260x, it's the same card and comes on both 1 gig and 2 gigs.

I would recommend the 2GB model if you plan on using a resolution above 900p

It still would be a bottleneck, I've seen enough 1080p benchmarks that show usage over 1gb.

Works fine for me 70+fps on BF$ 1080p high. And for a lower end card like 7790 you wouldent be plaing high detail enof games for you to need 2gb

They are just a couple of bucks apart....

Battlefield 4 is not the greatest game when it comes to graphics. There are far more demanding titles.

Last but not least, on the last few years we've seen VRAM usage increase drastically, he is buying this card, and probably not changing it in a couple of years, new games will come by then.

Does the R7 260x have any other features?

True Audio. I think "Thief" is using it. How much a difference it will make? No idea. Thief should be out soon, so we will know then.

R7 260x will pretty much get you in between a Xbox one and a PS4 as far as graphics.

The r9 260x is overpriced compared to what the same gpu was selling before lite coining went crazy. 7870's were 129 and 7850's were 110 on black friday deals.

The entry level is kind of getting ripped off a bit atm. The r9 270 jumped to like 200ish and that was supposed to be a 180 dollar card and it is just a 7870 with a ram overclock.

All the 7xxx will work with mantle. R9 260 and r9 290 are the ones that are currently supposed to be optimized and working well.

CPU:24/7-4770k @ 4.5ghz/4.0 cache @ 1.22V override, 1.776 VCCIN. MB: Z87-G41 PC Mate. Cooling: Hyper 212 evo push/pull. Ram: Gskill Ares 1600 CL9 @ 2133 1.56v 10-12-10-31-T1 150 TRFC. Well then the only game you will get mantle will be bf4. It also isnt getting adopted that much. Whats your whole system right now?

I was running a 4770 (512) and went to a 7770 (1GB) and it did a surprising amount. For the 7790 I'd say it would use all it's horsepower before the 1GB buffer, depending on screen res, but I could be wrong as I haven't had any hands on with that card :)
