RTX2060 vs. RX 5600XT

IlyasIlyas

So as the title indicates , I'm buying a gpu from Spain , both the RTX 2060 (zotac) and rx 5600XT (sapphire) , RX5600 costs 300€ , the zotac 320€ ; which one is more future proof and better value for it's money , I really need your help any answer will be appreciated .

PS: I'm having a ryzen 5 3600 on a tomahawk max board with 16gb ram .

I'd go with the Sapphire but keep in mind that you will get lower performance unless you flash the BIOS.

I prefer the 2060. 5600XT isn't that much faster and drivers tends to be buggy and less friendly to newcomers.

why you need to flash it?

most of the time you just use the factory firmware.

Basically means updating your bios - by downloading BIOS firmware form motherboard manufacturer - putting on a USB and formatting to FAT32 - go into bios and update!

For the record you can't assume that a BIOS flash is appropriate. By the time you buy a 5600XT, you won't have to worry about anything.

I'd argue performance shouldn't be the deciding factor here. They're close enough (with or without bios update) that it doesn't matter in practice, unless you focus hard on particular titles that do favour one side more than the other. So then it comes down to other factors, like do you like red or green drivers more? Or the card design?

Also on the bios update, the chances are cards were made and put on a boat around the world long before they were announced to help keep costs down. I'd guess the 1st batch at least will probably have the slower settings. Then again, they might have had to air ship the 1st batch to meet deadlines, so then it might be the 2nd batch being older and slower. It's a bit speculative since we don't know how they're shipping. Again, I don't think this is really important enough to be a deciding factor.

Productivity system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, 64GB ram (mixed), RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, random 1080p + 720p displays.

i mean , in my shoes what would be your choice , i honestly don't have any titles all I want to enjoy games at good graphics without worrying that mt card ain't future proof if that makes sense.

If we look to the past, AMD cards may have better support than nvidia cards when it comes to future features enabled through driver updates. nvidia might go a generation or two for new features, whereas AMD don't limit so much.

Let's say you're going to keep the card perhaps a couple of generations before you feel an upgrade itch with whatever is current then. I think either way, you're not going to see that much difference between them in that timescale. So I'm sticking to my answer, of no strong swing towards either of them on your criteria.
