Memory for 3900x

Hey everyone, 

 

I recently aquired an AMD 3900x with an Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite and after reading a bit it seems i may be missing out on the performance with my current Memory modules.

 

What i currently own: HX424C15FB2K2 (HyperX Fury) CL15  2400 Mhz .

 

After reading a bit i understood that the sweetspot for the 3000 Series from AMD would be somewhere at 3200 Mhz CL16 , so i was looking at the following Memory model CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 (Corsair Vengeance LPX) CL16 3200 Mhz.

 

Would it make such a big difference in doing the upgrade ? From the tests i saw an improvement between 5-10% (maybe) and i'm more curious for the gaming part how much improvement could it bring ?

The sweetspot is 3600mhz cl16 ram. The difference beetween 2400mhz and 3600mhz is pretty big so i would upgrade

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

3200Mhz  is also a sweet spot, no need to go that high.

there is only one sweet spot, that's why it's called spot and not range. while 3200 is definitely better than 2400, 3600c16 is even better.

Yes but why spend all that extra money when the 3200Mhz will do the job just fine.... :)

Thanks for the fast reply guys, but my question was how big of a difference would it make? 

Can't find anywhere some comparison between 2400Mhz CL15 and 3200 CL16 on 3900x....

The timings are worse in the 3600mhz (cl17). If you buy cl16 3600mhz ram you get even better results

first of all, with the 2400Mhz you will probably run in to AMD RAM compatibility issue.....

If you can afford a 3900x but don’t wanna spend $10 more for 5% extra performance I got news for you.

I did an analysis on another thread that can be helpful: 

 

in your case it's a bit different because 2400 is indeed slow but even then I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble of upgrading, at least for gaming there could be better places to spend the money
