From my memory, once you connect to your VPN server, all your traffic is automatically routed through the VPN.

@TopHatProductions115 and I were able to play on a Minecraft LAN world despite living several states apart using Softether in this fashion.

Can you elaborate on the issue?

Normally, with SoftEther, you get a Dynamic DNS address that you enter as the VPN host in your VPN client. You can also use your public IP address.

Don't forget that you need to do port forwarding in your router so that the VPN ports you're using are pointing to the VPN server.

I have my SoftEther set it up nearly identical, other than OpenVPN being turned on and using their client, and the internet traffic goes over the VPN.

Maybe give the OpenVPN client a try and if that doesn't work clear out everything in SoftEther and try again. I don't remember off the top of my head where the setting is, but you need to go in and check the box for OpenVPN server on SoftEther.

That is the best part of OpenVPN tho... you download a file, right click the OpenVPN icon in the taskbar and import your config. Its literally the easiest client setup VPN out there. I think I had to change one line in the config file the first time I did it and that was it, and IIRC it was just the hostname since I was going to somewhere with a static IP and hostname setup already and didn't want to use dyndns.

@kamrantekkit I will be back in 11 hours. DM me when you're ready to check your client config for SoftEther. I'll see if I can help. If I can't get the job done, I'm sure @Scheer can help you with generating an OpenVPN client config file for your server ;)

Open SoftEther, connect to the Virtual Hub, click OpenVPN/MS-SSTP Setting, then click Generate a Sample Configuration File for OpenVPN Clients.

It gives you a zipped folder, unzip it and you get a readme on how to configure it, as well as a remote access (client) config file and a site to site file. You want the remote access file. Right click, open with notepad, and change whatever you need changed for your specific use case. In my case I only edited one line called remote and changed it to my domain name. I think in most cases you don't even need to edit it. Rename that file to whatever you like as that is what will show up in the list if you add multiple OpenVPN config files.

Go here and download the client for whatever device you are using: https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/

After it installs, you get a popup saying what to do (right click the icon and Import the config file). Then right click again, Connect, enter username/password that was setup in SoftEther and you are good to go.
