Electronic humming coming from mic.

win 10: search for Sound settings > Input Device properties > upper right corner should show "Additional device settings" > Levels > Microphone Boost.

 

Play with the slider to see if the noise changes.

I already did that.

 

When I reduced the mic level, I can barely hear myself but when I increased the level as well as the boost, I hear the humming.

 

When the mic level was low, I did try to move the microphone closer to me but it didn't make any difference.

Hiss is indicative of DC, hum is usually mains 50/60Hz. Check grounding.

Ok I've solved it myself. I went on Realtek Control panel, enabled noise cancellation and reduced mic volume to 95.
