My Pc Specs:

AMD FX 8320 3.5ghz 8 core

Evga GTX 970 FTW+ 4gb

16gb RAM

1.5tb HDD

Super into gaming like recently Escape From Tarkov where Im averaging 40fps and drops to 30, with the lowest settings possible. So was just wondering if their is something wrong with my build and how to improve/upgrade it, I don't mind spend some £ to do it but within reason of course. So any opinions please.

You'd absolutely benefit from a CPU update, yeah. The FX series were unremarkable at best when new, and have aged even worse.

What type of upgrade you're looking at is going to vary based upon your budget though, as you are looking at a new CPU, motherboard and ram.

From that particular game I'm seeing reports from when it was new that GTX 1080 GPUs and 7700K CPUs were having trouble running it full bore so I'd say based on your experience that's probably about what you'll expect without a complete overhaul unfortunately. I'd also suggest looking at a 500GB SSD in the near future too just from a performance perspective.

Yes, you definitely need a new CPU. Bulldozer is just obsolete, now. I would definitely upgrade to something like a Ryzen 3600, for example. The Graphics Card is still decent enough, but could also use an upgrade. If you can't upgrade both, I would upgrade the CPU first.

Ok was looking at a 3600x so hopefully that should be good then later looking to upgrade GPU to maybe a GTX 2070

I'd go for the 3600, as I don't find the 3600X to be worth the price. If I were looking at a 3600X, I'd rather spend a bit more, and get the 3700X, but if it's just gaming, the 3600 is perfectly fine. If you upgrade the CPU to a 3600 and the GPU to an RTX 2070, you'll see a massive difference in games. Also, just to make sure you are aware, you'll need a new motherboard for the new(er) Ryzen chips, as they are a different socket. Ryzen chips, from generation 1 to 3, whith is the latest, as of now, use socket AM4. I would get something like a good B450 motherboard. B450 motherboards were meant for 2nd gen Ryzen, and will need a BIOS upgrade to work with 3rd gen Ryzen. You can try and find a shop that will update the BIOS for you, or, if the motherboard features some kind of BIOS Flashback feature, you can probably upgrade the BIOS yourself, without a compatible CPU. I did the same to get my X370 ASUS motherboard, which is meant for 1st gen Ryzen, to work with my Ryzen 7 3700X. Also, you will need new DDR4 RAM.

Your right difference between 3600 and 3600x is very minimal like 4% for extra £40. Ok will look at B450 motherboards and DDR4 ram, ty.
