I bought my gaming pc for Christmas and it includes a fx 8320. I play a lot of dayz and I noticed the performance isn't all that well. Is this a good cpu. Should I upgrade to another APU?

whats your budget? you could get a graphics card for the same price

Have you oc'ed the 8320? The 8320 is not an APU since it does not have integrated graphics.

Dumb question, but are you sure you connected the monitor cable into the GPU and not the MOBO?

Yes it's connected to the gpu using a DVI cable

please clear the sights cookies theres a bug thats fixed by doing that. you wont get any benefit from a apu, days engines just bad and super un optimized your rigs fine though

I have my settings on low and at 1920x1080p and I don't go over 60fps except when I either look at the sky or at the ground.

I think the game i not fully optimized. Have you tried different drivers? Maybe avoid using beta drivers, and see if it works.

I'm using Catalyst 13.12

I tried 14.1 beta but that was even worse.

Instead of correcting you in a negative way, i'm simply doing you a favor. It doesn't hurt to learn new things.

Not really. Arma 2 isn't that great either. Tried ESO beta that runs on ultra high 60fps and BF4 runs ultra at about 45-55fps in singleplayer. Haven't tried it on multiplayer yet

Probably just a bug or something i think i heard that rocket talked about some fps bug. Also the game is not well optimized at all so its not that big of a surprise. Though i have DayZ SA and i actually ordered my 8320 yesterday night so it should arrive in 3 days or so. If you want i could PM you or something if i get the same results. And i have a 7950 so you should get a bit more performance than me.

Also: you should try lowering the settings a bit, doesn't look that much worse and actually gives you an advantage since you can see people better. Antialiasing is kinda unnecessary imo for example.

this game & also Arma 1,2 & 3 don't like AMD CPU's. Intel is the better option for those games nothing you can do just keep gaming.

Get a CPU cooler and overclock it.
The 8320 has huge overclocking headroom, I've seen many people take the CPU from 3.5Ghz all the way to 5.0Ghz on Noctua NH-D14 & Corsair H80i CPU coolers.

I have a hyper 212 evo on it. Only problem is I don't know how to overclock.
