Storage for DVD RIPs

My partner has over 500 DVDs and she always complains when discs die. I also think it would make our lives much easier when we know we are going away, to have them all stored digitally to make the collection more easily accessible.

How would you recommend to do this? I don't really fancy collecting a bunch of external drives.

If this is a really stupid question feel free to tell me :)

This is what I use:

Its a really good tool. You will need a few HDD's to store the movies on as they do take up a lot of space.
