bottleneck Will my CPU and or Motherboard bottleneck a 1080TI?

As the title reads. I have a MSI Z77 Mpower( Check model here ) with a Core I7-3770K running @ 4.2Ghz.

I'm considering buying a 1080TI GTX, will my PC bottleneck the card? I currently have a 1070gtx which is ok but I need some more kick.

 

I have no clue how to check this, can someone enlighten me? Thanks guys

In some games (especially new ones), even at 1440p, yes.

But you will still be able to go above 100FPS easily even in the most demanding ones depending on the settings you use.

Depends on what games and your performance target. More demanding modern titles like a stronger CPU, but there's a lot a 3770K can still do.

My r7 1700 at 3.7ghz bottlenecks my 1070ti in bf5 at almost max settings at 1080p. If you're going for high fps then yeah it will bottleneck it pretty good but if you're trying for 60fps 4k or 60fps 1440p then no I don't think it will. Fps will make it bottleneck it more than resolution.

What's your monitor resolution and refresh rate? And what kind of games will you be playing?

Depending on what games I think a CPU/Motherboard upgrade is definitely what your next steps should be for performance. Intel 3rd gen was around 2012 or so, your 1070 is definitely the best performer in your system. I don't think the 1080 Ti would be worth it when you already have a 1070 with your 3rd gen i7. I have an i5-4690k with a 1070 SC right now and I definitely notice my CPU being the bottleneck with intensive games.

Thanks guys I will upgrade my mainboard and cpu. First time I'm looking at AMD Ryzen. I knew the time would come. I'm bound to Nvidia because I use my Shield tv to gamestream allot. But that's a problem for another day.
