So I recently built a new PC, and have been out of the custom PC game for about 5 years now.

I bought Kingston HyperX Black 2x4GB, CAS 9, DDR3 1600.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104387

I downloaded CPU-Z, and first noticed that the CAS Latency was 11, not 9 as advertised. Also that my NB Freq was 799.99Mhz, and once jumped to 3400Mhz...??

I go into my BIOS and change the RAM from 1600 to 1800, just to see what happened, and ran CPU-Z again, which it now says DRAM freq at 899Mhz, and CAS at 9.

Am I missing something here, is this normal??

DDR being double data rate what is shown in CPU-z is half your effective clock rate.

As for the latency I'm not too sure.

Set the xmp profile in BIOS and it should work 1600 cl9. (cpu-z will read 800 cl9 which is half the mhz because ddr is double data rate so x2 is 1600) This should fix it.
