How's the Thinkpad x395? It has the same specs as the magicbook and costs 5299.

Yeah that's a good choice

Hello, I live in China and I'm looking to get a new laptop and I came across the mechrevo z2-r, I believe it uses a tongfang chassis because mechrevo laptops are sold directly from a tongfang store.

Does anyone know if the mechrevo z2-r is a school-able laptop because I'm looking for a laptop for school that is powerful but won't make too many people stare at me.

My budget is $1500usd and the mechrevo z2-r is currently $1200 with a 2060, and i7 9750h and a 512 gb SSD and a 1tb hdd.

Max weight 2.5kg

Min battery 4hrs

Budget in RMB 10,999 and below (technically 10,000 but I can go extra as long as it doesn't go over the 10,000's)

The laptop is for school and gaming.

My first language is English.

Your budget actually can get an excellent 2070 laptop under 2.5kg: Clevo PB51RF-G aka Hasee Z9-CT7PK/CT7PT. With decent battery too (Optimus on)

Or Mechrevo X8Ti Plus (Tongfang GK7CP7S, with i7-8750H though) which is also very decent. 17.3 inch, 2.5kg. But battery life will suck unless with battery upgrade

Do you know any slimmer laptops? Because I feel like it'd be weird to lug a chonky laptop to school.

How slim do you want? Around 2cm? (thin and light category)

Well I have no set slimness but anything slim enough that people won't stare at your laptop when in highschool.

I'm thinking either mechrevo umi air or Asus x2 duo but I'm buying in February so I'm open to all suggestions.

3cm is still acceptable to me, but everyone has different preference

Well, I'll ask again if anything big comes out but I'm asking early because I might be able to buy in January.

Also, think immature 13 year olds for laptop thickness, and also 90% of my school has MacBooks so maybe 2cm or less, a but more if necessary but probs just 2cm.

Go for Tongfang thin and lights then (GK5-Y, GK5-Z, GK5-X, GK5-V), not sure who are selling in China though. Only know Mechrevo since it's under Tongfang

On jd.com the mechrevo store only sells the mechrevo z2, z2 air, z2 air-g and the umi air for thin and light laptops

I don't have to get a Gaming laptop because I'm building a PC over the summer and I have a desktop at home with a 1080.

I could probably convince my parents to up my budget to 20,000 if I don't build a PC over the summer and just hook the laptop I get into a monitor but I feel like getting a laptop and a desktop would be a better option.

I see, then you might want to consider business laptops for regular use

I trust this more, though all reviews out there are ULV CPU+MX GPU so thermals might be bad

The mechrevo s2 plus has an i5 with the mx250 but no i7 varient.

Also, I know you said the umi air is probably the best in the list, how's the Asus x2 duo? Because the extra screen real estate might be useful in the future.

Would avoid Asus due to poor QC+QA and aftersales
