Fishy Craigslist listing

ShadySocks

I found this listing which has a suspiciously low price, has been up for 16 days, and appears stolen. What would you do?

How does it appear stolen?  Because they don't say how they acquired it?

I'd pass on it.

The seller could return the PC for $1300 with proof of purchase

Too good to be true almost always means it's a scam or something similar.

Not scam, stolen

It's possible it's an employee/manager/etc. that purchased it at retail with their employee discount. Would have to be a pretty hefty discount to still turn a profit at a $300-400 mark off though. It's currently going for $1199 at BestBuy and was $1099 a few weeks ago

(Edit) Looks like Best Buy's employee discount is a 10% mark up over their wholesale cost. So there's definitely some wiggle room for an employee to flip this and make a nice chunk of change. Most likely an obvious violation of their employment contract to do that.

It's possible they got it on like a black friday deal or something and are selling it marked up some. If they were to return it, they'd just get back what they paid.

As others said, its possible they just.... want to sell it cheap for one reason or another. Its hard to know for sure, but I have sold MANY things on craigslist for cheap simply because I wanted the items gone. That said, most of what I sell is used, so the prices are much lower, but still, same idea applies. Hard to know. You can try and talk to them and just see how they sound. If it at all sounds sketchy, maybe it is.
