Help With Wifi and Wifi Settings

Carlos Rendon
Go to solution Solved by Shahnewaz,

Ah I see. Keep everything as I said, only change the Wireless Mode back to mixed.

Wireless Mode: *mixed*

Channel Width: Start with 40MHz and work your way up.

Band Steering: Enabled

DCS: Enabled

Auth Mode: WPA2 only

Encrypt Mode: AES only

ATF Enable: Enabled

Ok  so 5g is working with these settings :    I had to turn OFF band steering.  If it was on , it won't let me change the auth mode or encrypt mode.   atf  is on1894726893_2019-12-2615_49_43-CODA-4582-ONERouter-HitronTechnologies.thumb.jpg.f33cc9a842916c5c687b0d6923cca271.jpg

If Band Steering is enabled you only need to change Auth and Encrypt on one tab (2.4GHz or 5GHz). Both will use the same settings. You cannot have Band Steering enabled and have different security settings for the two bands.

Leave it at enabled, change it on whichever panel (2.4GHz/5GHz) the security settings show up.

ATF will make sure your iPhone's WiFi performance isn't nuked.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Ok, question : before turning on band steering, the SSIDs that were available were "Confused"and "Confused-5G"  .....  after turning on band steering, Only the "Confused" wifi appears as my options to connect.  So does that mean I still have 5G speeds?  Should I go up to 80MHz bandwidth (What does this setting do?)?

Well, it's a feature. It takes away the 2.4GHz and 5GHz confusion out from the user, and the router deals with band assignment itself.

Only "Confused" will appear in your networks, and the router will automatically assign the best band on your device depending on device specs, noise, signal strength, distance etc.

If you don't like it or it causes problems, you can turn it off.

Well awesome! Thanks so much for your help! for the past hour or so I have been problem free.  Is the Channel important or just leave it to auto?

Also, where can I learn all this?  Like I want to know what all the encrypt modes abbreviations mean.

Thanks!

Leave it at Auto. The router will automatically change channels when there's too much congestion in one.

As always, Google is your friend.
