Intel Atom Desktop Motherboard

I kinda want an Intel Atom motherboard I can tinker with, and run Windows 7 on smoothly. I'm thinking about making it a music server, or just a server in general. Any ideas?

I was debating picking this atom/mobo for a server/nas build: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157475

 

Love that it has such a low TDP and dual NICs, Marvel controllers etc, But at almost 400$ I think a X10SLH-F with E3-1230v3 is much better value... Even considered picking up a used 1230v2...

Yeah... I'd like to try and keep this under $100. The closer to $50 the better.

it handles all of the tasks that i throw at it, even large 4k files that need to go into storage.

From searching around I can't find one with a fan, after all they do run pretty cool. Just rigging up a can to put near it would also do if you can

Why not get yourself a decent-ish laptop (Latitude D430 or D630? I had the D630 and want a D430.) and use your netbook for that?

This would be at my grandma's, acting like a small server. And I need the portability of my netbook, since I use it at home, grandma's, other grandma's, and sometimes school.

That's why I want a D430. My netbook was too slow for me (The motherboard still works fine, I could use it for something.) and my main laptop is big and the battery life isn't up to snuff. The D430 is basically a netbook version of the D630 so it's smaller but it still has a decent Core 2 Duo and I already have an extended battery for one.

So paying for atom performance does not bother you eh.....?

That's why I want a D430. My netbook was too slow for me (The motherboard still works fine, I could use it for something.) and my main laptop is big and the battery life isn't up to snuff. The D430 is basically a netbook version of the D630 so it's smaller but it still has a decent Core 2 Duo and I already have an extended battery for one.

My netbook isn't too bad (Atom N270, GMA 645GME, 1GB DDR2 800Mhz, 120GB Samsung EVO SSD). Might get a 2GB kit, since on the ASUS website it says it can handle 2GB of RAM. I got the black one. Although the battery is SHOT.

I guess not. They're not bad. The performance to TDP isn't that bad (mine has a TDP of 2.5 watts, 1.2v).

When i hear ATOM processors i just shake my head and turn to my Galaxy S4 and smile.

The newest ones aren't that bad. I look at my Exynos 3 then turn to my Atom N270 and smile.
