Hello everyone!

I recently got a rig, basically for free. Its got an i7 950, 6gb ddr3 ram, a 1tb hdd and a gt 430. Its definitely a decent computer, the gt 430 is REALLY good, it can even play bf4 at low settings!

So, here are my options: 1, upgrade this current machine. This means putting 8/16gb ram, a ssd, a new psu and a new gpu. Together, this would cost somewhere around $500.

Option 2: I could build an entirely new pc. This would cost about $1300, but have newer and maybe a little better parts.

I am a competitive tf2 player, which means the only game I really play is tf2, a pretty easy game to run. The gt 430 runs it fine. The only intensive thing I need to do is record and do some streaming.

So, which one should go with? Thanks!

EDIT: Also, I forgot to mention that the pc already has a closed loop water cooler. So I can do some ocing.

I'd just add in a ssd. The rest looks fine.

When I had a GT 430 It struggled to play Counter Strike Source if there where too many people shooting at once...

It was especially problematic when trying to play 50-60 player Zombie Escape servers.

As for the upgrades maybe a Low to Mid ranged Gpu (AMD preferably for Mantle) would give a nice performance boost and a cheap 120gb SSD.

You're telling us, that a GT 430 looks fine? Whatever you're on I want a puff of :P

He said it runs what he needs fine. No need to upgrade just because we would personally appreciate the extra power for our uses.

I get the feeling that it was sarcasm...

I had a GT 440 myself and it runs TF2 fine. I didn't read sarcasm from the OP.

You could spend a Little bit of money on the Graphics card so that you could get something like Shadowplay that way you can record your game. As for streaming I'm not sure how much that affects your games performance if it did it quite a bit would probably be worth upgrading RAM as well.

As for an SSD I'd recommend the Kingston V300 or the HyperX, depending on your budget and a Bronze Plus PSU (modular if its in budget)
