Hi, I've been watching the LTT youtube for some time, and I always find myself looking for "that one video" where a certain tool/progam was mentioned. Is there maybe a wiki or preferred list of PC temp / frame rate/ disk management / driver checker / VPN ect..... that you use on LTT. Sorry if this is an intense NOOB question.

You generally find nothing does everything you want so you either use the one that does MOST of what you want or switch depending on what you want to do.

It also depends on your hardware generation as some work better with older stuff and some with newer.

In some cases again it depends on the hardware.

My advice is to look at the MANY internet list articles, read computer magazines and research yourself based on your needs.

One or two peoples opinion from here will be a good start but far from exhaustive like the “well” researched existing articles out there.

@Arika S I'm asking it because there is so much malware out there, Yes I can google and get multiple results, but it doesn't always work. I work at an electrical engineering company where we often look for the quickest way to do something on one of the PCs and we all watch LTT so the conversation of "that one video" comes up quite a lot. Sorry if this seems trivial to you, but when a misbehaving PC/server is holding up production it's often easiest and more efficient to look at what a trusted source has used.

on the malware. usually overclocking or monitor and test software is worry free, especially if overclock or review comp sites are seen using or recommending. now the programs you have to look out for are those so called fix programs. like driver sweeper and the like lol

HWInfo / OCCT for temperatures. HWInfo also shows info about your hardware. MSI Afterburner - GPU Overclock. MSI Afterburner w/ RivaTuner Stats : It shows you in-game overlay with core clocks, temps, fps, etc. For drivers it's best to go on manufacturers' websites and just look for it on the support/drivers site

If you are referring to video, please link to video and timestamp. LTT uses quite variety of software, Aida64 Pro and MSI Afterburner most notably, but they time to time show also some others. So its easier to us indentify those when we see the video you mean.

Monitoring:
HWInfo64, Ryzen Master (if you use Ryzen) or MSI Afterburner will work.

Benchmarking:

CPU: Cinebench (R15 or R20)

GPU: 3DMark, Unigine Superposition (sometimes you still see Unigine Heaven too)

Storage devices: CrystalDiskMark

Stresstesting (for when you want to push that overclock and see how hot your PC could run, these are not realistic workloads):

CPU: Aida64 or Prima95 (the latter is not recommended on certain Intel platforms)

GPU: Furmark

Disk management:
CrystalDiskInfo

Driver checker:

I don't use one, I just update my GPU drivers through Geforce Experience on AMD and Radeon Settings on AMD

VPN:
Don't use one, don't have an opinion.

All the programs mentioned above are either free or have a free demo which will suffice for advanced testing.
