1. Do you have anything connected to SATA 4/5 or SATA-Express? Only one can be used at a time.

2. What M.2 SSD are you using? Only M.2 PCIE drives are supported.

Be sure to update to the latest BIOS for your revision of board, as noted by others above

Nothing plugged in SATA express

however i did read my manual before and saw that when i install an m.2 sata ports 4/5 do not work so perhaps my current hard drive is plugged in a sata port 4 or 5 and thats why the m.2 ssd in undetectable in the bios. maybe?

Perhaps. Usually I notice it goes the other way around (i.e. you have something in SATA 4/5 that is not detected because an M.2 drive).

What M.2 drive are you using? I have a feeling it could be related to that too.

I was more afraid of it being a SATA M.2, which are not specifically mentioned as supported (although their QVL does mention M.2 SATA and PCIE drives.. hmm).

But that should work, a BIOS update may improve compatibility with M.2 drives indeed.

But just to check if I'm understanding you correctly.

The M.2 is plugged in, you can see it in the BIOS, you can see it when installing Windows, but you can't boot off of it?

Are you sure it's first in the bootup options?
