Hello.

I live in Canada and I am hoping to build a PC for gaming and some workload such as programming and running VM's

My budget is around 2000 CAD (2500 after tax).

I already have a 3TB hardrive so no need for extra storage

I have no need for peripherals just a single monitor.

Here is my parts list (Edited)

Could use more CPU cores for virtual machines

MSI X570 boards are not competitive until the Unify, so the Asus TUF Wifi or Gigabyte Elite Wifi are better options if not the MSI B450 boards

Case airflow is limited

EVGA G3 has problems with its overpower protection

havent checked prices yet so more parts may get thrown out.

There's Ryzen 7 2700s available for around $170 US. EDIT: Since you're running VMs, you're getting a way better value for money out of a 2700 than a 3600.

Personally I'd say drop the RGB to save money and spend it on faster ram. I got DDR4 3600 for $90 CAD. And I think my build still looks amazing. Granted I'm going for a all black lit by white light style, so it depends on how important RGB is to you.

Gaming Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x   |  GPU: Asus ROG STRIX 2080 SUPER Advanced (2115Mhz Core | 9251Mhz Memory) |  Motherboard: Asus X570 TUF GAMING-PLUS  |  RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3600MHz 16GB  |  PSU: Corsair RM850x  |  Storage: 1TB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro, 250GB Samsung 840 Evo, 500GB Samsung 840 Evo  |  Cooler: Corsair H115i Pro XT  |  Case: Lian Li PC-O11

Peripherals:

Monitor: LG 34GK950F  |  Sound: Sennheiser HD 598  |  Mic: Blue Yeti  |  Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Platinum  |  Mouse: Logitech G502

Laptop:

Asus ROG Zephryus G15

Ryzen 7 4800HS, GTX1660Ti, 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz, 512GB nVME, 144hz

NAS:

QNAP TS-451

6TB Ironwolf Pro

IMO it's better to go for a 2000 series CPU rather than a 3000 series CPU because it just isn't that big of a leap in performance to justify almost a x2 price, i would go for something like this if it was my personal rig https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/673FZf

Yes. I changed the CPU to the 2000 series. Also Thank you for the parts list. It's helpful

No problem, i'd skip the RGB since as you can see in the parts list i sent you can get vengeance ram which is also running at 3200 + its like 40 dollars cheaper and i think you should spend that money for the 970 Evo over the 860 for more performance, i saw that you added a Corsair CXM for your build which i think is a horrible choice for a build like this as it is only Bronze and Semi-Modular, better spend the extra money for a IMO much better power supply which is Gold and Fully Modular, if you also want to save some cash you can go with the Asus RX 5700 instead of the Gigabyte for $50 less.

Optimised your build a bit.

-much better cooler

-cheaper but same performance ram#

-much better ssd

-cheaper monitor with better colors (VA) and slightly larger
