Will the RTX 2080 OC by Gigabyte fit with a Fraktal define r4?

yes it fits. you might have to remove the lower bays
r4 says it can fit up to 430mm gpu. 2080oc is 280mm

damn but i dont want to remove them

the gigabyte 2080 super oc is exactly 280mm? i dont want any surprises, like a cable sticking out of the thing curving and make it not fit and shit

i will have to manually measure it tomorrow to see if there is 280mm without removing lower bay

The upper 3.5" drive bays would have to be the one that would need removal for gpu over 295mm long.

PCPartPicker does not flag a gpu length issue between the case and gpu. Usually it will display a note when a gpu will require bay removal.

Removing the upper 3.5" bays helps with airflow.

but the upper has 5 slots...

well I guess with modern boards, the m.2 drive doesnt count so i would have 3 free slots below?

According to Fractal Design's website: GPU clearance without removing the upper 5.25" bays is 295mm.

According to Gigabyte's website: RTX 2080 Gigabyte Gaming OC is 286.5mm in length.

So you've got an extra 8.5mm of clearance without removing any expansions.

As you say M.2 reduces need for 3.5" . Also capacities have risen dramatcally. Unless you actually need the drive bays today, don't worry about them.

But as I and others have pointed out, the gpu should fit easily without removing bays.

A lot of drive 5.25" trays can be rigged to fit a 2.5 on top of the HDD as well.

You'd have to be operating a server to utilize all of these trays...
