Over the past few days where I live, it's been so dry that you literally zap just about everything and anyone you touch. My daughter is having a blast with it, while I walk around in fear for my hardware. Of course, being a professional tech, I have several anti-static bracelets that I use anytime I open up a case or do a build. It has gotten so bad here that I have resorted to wearing them when I am just sitting at my own PC as well! I keep it on me the entire time I am at home. haha

 

Anyone else having a static issue this bad? =)

get a humidifier. problem solved (or the hot water in the bowl, but it isn't a permanent fix since you would have to keep on getting more hot water)

 

just be sure not to make it too humid

My bed is so static that i can power my pc if i wanted too.. not to mention my blankets,cat,bathrobe,towels and everything else..

I can pet my cat for about 20 seconds before we are both shocked by the damn static..

Yep I am getting static everywhere in my area because its dry and cold but thankfully Im not getting it inside.

Yeah, water on the stove wont work, apartment is way too big, tried it already. Hence why I am getting ready to go buy a humidifier. Just hate doing that when it will only get used about a week. lol

 

I just ran one of the extensions I use for my bracelets to connect the aluminum base of my mouse-pad to the same grounded case, works great. I zap that and nothing else.

Since it's been snowing where I am, I've had the air conditioning/heater on constantly and whenever I sit on my bed, which has bedsheets that aren't cotton, I zap myself on the metal cover of my laptop. My girlfriend and I have also been zapped on the lips when we've kissed.
