Posted December 6, 2019 Any reason why you go with Intel instead of AMD? You'd get more value for the money. ex Intel 9400f is about as powerful as a Ryzen 1600 which you find for as low as 80$ (60$ at Microcenter if you buy it with a motherboard) The Ryzen 1600 also comes with a decent stock cooler, unlike Intel CPU coolers, and you can overclock it if you want to (and pair it with suitable motherboard) You can use a 50$ A320 based motherboard if you're really on low budget (but no overclocking possible on A320), or you can spend 10-15$ more for a B450 motherboard that will also allow you to overclock the cpu. Because I already own the motherboard got the f series because didn't need integrated graphics and is way cheaper then other 9 gen processor
 Posted December 6, 2019 Do you also have the ram and everything else? A motherboard is not that expensive. You're paying 145$ for a CPU if you get it new, when you could pay 80-100$ for an equivalent CPU, then pay 60$ or more for a motherboard. Then sell the current motherboard and you get some money back. The motherboard will give you more upgrade options ... you could go up to 12 core / 24 threads with 60-70$ boards in the future: ASRock B450M PRO4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (B450M PRO4) - PCPartPicker MSI B450M GAMING PLUS Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (B450M GAMING PLUS) - PCPartPicker Gigabyte B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (B450M DS3H) - PCPartPicker ASRock B450M Steel Legend Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (B450M Steel Legend) - PCPartPicker
