Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Liquid Worth it?

Is liquid metal worth the hassle and money for its perfomance improvements over normal  thermal grizzly or noctua nt-h1?

would buying the noctue NT-H2 with 10x cleanign wipes be better for future usage as well? and just go with liquid for now(NT-H2 costs 7 usd more)

You're the only one who can answer that question.

 

Look at the data for whatever you're planning on using it with and decide if the lower temperatures are 'worth it' to you.

 

I've used it on a direct die 9900k and delidded 7960x (with IHS placed back on) with great results and no hassle, but I am not you :)

Ok, how hard is it to delidd a i7 9700k? 

guessing its not much different than your 9900k but how much time did it take?

i kinda wanna do it because it would be sick but the risk is pretty great

It's logical to use it for Intel these days but not so much AMD. Not worth it if you are using it on the IHS opposed to a delid.

I loved it. I wanted to try it and being a somewhat of a cooling enthusiast, it was well worth it. 

If there isn’t a purpose or a goal I wouldn’t. I just do it to try everything once and to speak from experience and not parrot YouTube videos.

Not hard at all - RockitCool's delid/relid kit is a piece of cake, and they include some solder-dissolving stuff called Quicksilver that makes removing the solder from the CPU die and IHS a breeze. That last part took me maybe 30 mins cuz you have to let it sit a bit, agitate it, sit a bit, agitate etc then finally it will all wipe off.

 

There's really no risk as long as you follow the instructions. I kept mine naked die for direct-die cooling with der8auer's frame, but if you're going to relid, before you do so just coat the tiny SMD components on the CPU die side with some clear nail polish so they won't get shorted if liquid metal accidentally drips onto them.
