New PC for Sim Racing

nicokart

Hi all,

After 8-9 years my PC is giving up on me. I made some upgrades along the way, but this is what I am going to be departing from:

  • Intel Core i5 2500K Unlocked
  • Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P-B3
  • Crucial Ballistix 16GB Kit Sport XT 8GB x2 DDR3 1600 MHz PC3-12800 Memory
  • ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti (6144 MB) (STRIXGTX980TIDC36GD5)
  • 500W Corsair CMPSU-500CXUK Builder
  • 250GB Samsung 840 SSD
  • Antec 100 One Hundred, Black Midi

New PC use case

I am a Sim Racer therefore I would ideally like something that could support the following:

  • Triple monitor setup (144Hz)
  • Low latency
  • Low input lag
  • Capable of streaming but not a necessity
  • Video creation but not a necessity

Budget:

~£1k ($1300 USD / $1729 CAD) ideally (PC only) Beyond Sim Racing I am unlikely to play too many other games, maybe Guild Wars or SWTOR. Any triple screen monitor recommendations (144Hz) are welcome. Appreciate the feedback on helping me build a new rig. Thanks

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

a question about your sim setup  if that's okay.

i've been looking to try it myself but more casually, and i've had problems finding things like steering wheels and pedals that aren't 1000$ each.

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

Hello,

Here is something nice :

PCPartPicker Part List

A little above budget but quite strong for gaming at 144Hz. Can save money on the CPU cooler since the 3600 comes with one.

you can also hold on to your ssd, as long as you're not planning to sell your old rig as a whole

Your current build looks good. You can reuse the 980ti and ssd...if needed. 980ti is a pretty good card even by todays standards.

I think that depends on what you want from it, much like a PC.

In my opinion there are 3 ranges.

Entry <500 - Logitech G29 wheel & pedals

Mid <1000 - Most Fanatec products

High >1000 - OSW wheel & Heusinkveld pedals

Hope that helps a little

I hadn't planned to sell it and if I could reuse parts then I would definitely like to

apart for the ssd and gpu(if you don't want to upgrade it), you can't reuse much. so you're probably better off trying to sell the whole system for like 300, or gifting it to a family member or friend for christmas
