Hi guys!
New to this and despite the numerous amount of scrapyard wars I've watched, I have no clue when it comes to buying my own device. Looking for a tower that I can game on (Assassins Creed etc) for under £500 if that's even possible? I've already a mouse/keyboard/monitor etc, just need the actual set up as my mac is awful for gaming!
Thanks!

Is it that much cheaper to self build? I didn't think it was nowdays!

It's not massively cheaper at the low end, the advantage to building your own is that you get all standard parts. With some prebuilts you can get really non standard motherboards and power supplies that really limit upgrade potential

|| CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (@3.9GHz) || Motherboard: ASUS Prime B350 Plus || Cooler: Arctic Freezer 33 eSports Edition || GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 SC || Memory: 16GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB C16 (@2933MHz) || SSD: SanDisk 128GB || HDD: WD Blue 2TB, Toshiba 2TB, Transcend 1TB || PSU: Corsair RM550x || Case: Fractal Design Focus G || Monitor: 2x AOC 23” I2369VM IPS Full HD, Samsung 32" LED TV Monitor || Mouse: Logitech G703 Wireless || Keyboard: Cooler Master MK750 RGB (Cherry MX Brown) || Speakers: Dell Stereo Speakers || Headphones: Sennheiser HD 4.40 BT / Samsung Galaxy Buds ||

I thought so! Tbf I'm not fussed about upgrade potential as it'll only be for light gaming/uni work for the next 3-4 years and if i want something heavier I can look at that down the line!

I have a 60 hertz monitor at the moment and don't plan on upgrading that until I move in the summer and get a dual monitor set up :)

That is about 500-550 pounds new, but you could look for:

Used ryzen 2600/2700

Used cpu cooler (like that arctic)

Used b450 boards.

That ram is good price for new, so no need to get used.

You could look for used 1650 super or even 1660 super.

Look for better cases than that, thats ugly af.

If he has only a 500 pound budget, he won't get a lot more than 1080p 60fps, or am I wrong here?

£500 for what works well in the tower, Monitor upgrades are next summer and if I ever game heavily i can upgrade my PC with the help of friends I'm sure :)

Do not buy used psu:s because, you cant know how much they have used it and it can break in a year.

That sx8200 pro is actually prettu good, check this review: https://hothardware.com/reviews/adata-xpg-sx8200-pro-review

That t-force ram is pretty good for the price.

The arctic freezer duo is very good for the price

Not so good. Not for assassin creed, but esport titles, it could get 60fps+
