Got Lucky with Ram, want to OC. Worth it?

Just Purchased a pair of 8gb Ripjaws V 3000Mhz which were advertised as Hynix dies but on installing i found that they were Samsung B-Die's at CL16 @ 1.35V.

I always wanted to try 3200/3600Mhz. So my question is how much more noticeable performance will I gain? Is it worth it for a casual gamer?

PS: I still use the ryzen 2400G and will upgrade to a 3600 in January. My mainboard is a gigabyte ax370-gaming rev1.x

3200Mhz is a sweat spot.

I don't think they will go higher than that anyways...

The model I have is not listed anywhere on G.Skill website so may be a new/unknown model.

You're acting like there's some kind of trade-off. There's no reason not to try it. Overclocking may or may not work. Just try it and see if it's stable.

Not worth it. Your timings are 16-18-18-38. Which is not very good for 3000MHz. If you overclock to 3200MHz or 3600MHz your timings will get even worse than they are now. Which may decrease performance compared to your RAM's current setup. I'd stick with what you have now.

Since Thaiphoon burner says you've got B-Die, I'm guessing that you've got a kit that did not pass the binning test. Cause I've never seen or heard of B-die at 3000MHz with 16-18-18-38.

The "new B-die" is not as good as the good old one. I have 4x16GB G.Skill F4-3200C16S-16GIS.

They are also marked as B-die, but can't lower their timings to around 14-15-15-* as good old B-Die should be able.

I think the die is actually not B but E or A or something like that, just the Thaiphoon creators have not updated the program yet.

Yes, it sucks that Samsung stopped making B-Die.

Lucky on the basis of ram support which is very bad on my mobo. None of the vengeance rams with sk hynix boot with default xmp, this one managed to boot with 2400 default and 3000 on XMP. Even if they are lower binned b-dies but atleast its stable at 3000 and cas lowered to cl15.
