make sure your ram is in the right slots, if it is in the wrong slots it will cut your speed in half

i have the crucial technology ones in slot 1 and 3

and the corsair ones in slot 2 and 4

should i put crucial technology in 1 and 2

and corsair in 3 and 4?

yeah i would try it the crucial runs at 2400 so maybe its cut in half in that slot i would not know why though, worth a try though.

okay

BUT, i downloaded the NZXT CAM software which tells me my pc specs and how fast the clock is running and my fan speeds and all that good stuff and it says my default clock speed for my ram is 1333 mhz...

should i take out both corsair or both crucial technology sticks to see if it'll change anything?

nope same thing... 1200 mhz

You’ll want to put them back I think. Looking at the pick the same kind of memory wants to be in the slots that are the same color.

You want to buy something for this thing that makes it faster yes?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Gah?  1333?  That’s not 1200.  Ram is read two ways. Modern ram is DDR (double data rate) that means 1200 is really 2400.  This software is saying it’s running at 2666.  Did they overclock anything for you at this Best Buy?

Yeah I get that, but this 1200-1333 thing is giving me pause.  I do not know why that happened.  It’s possible your machine has been overclocked.  Some software will not read overclocks whereas some will.

inwas gonna say buy some faster memory but an overclock messes with whatever memory you put in it and there’s a few ways to overclock memory and I don’t know which one was used.  That makes buying new memory possibly a bad idea.  I don’t think I can help here.  I know nothing about overclocking memory on anything less than 10 years old nor anything AMD let alone ryzen.

maybe @scuff gang can help, but that 1333 thing put me out of my depth.

Well not by you.  Did you just buy parts at the Best Buy or did someone massage it?

@scuff gang *ding*. He might have two different speeds of memory...  not merely different brands! good thought !

also really not liking Best Buy dude if this is true.
