Which one should I go with?

xqtoe

So I am trying to build a new PC to last for a few years while also being aesthetically pleasing and I am wondering which build I should go with.

Why do you have so many fans in the second one? You know the RGB cases come with RGB fans right?

I'd probably go with the first one, but try and find a white card since that seems to be your theme.

@Herman Mcpootis By the time someone needs to upgrade to something AM4 provides that the 9700k doesn't, the AM4 CPUs will be obsolete.

Of the two, get the second PC and drop the extra case fans. The fans that come with the case are more than adequate for your PC, and they also have RGB. Use the savings to buy a game.

If you want your PC to last even longer, I'd maybe get cheaper RAM, a cheaper case, a cheaper PSU (the G3 is overpriced at $120 as it is anyway - note that "cheaper" does NOT mean cheap out), and a cheaper but very respectable air cooler like an NH-D15 or a Dark Rock Pro 4. This will allow you to get a better CPU and GPU.

CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor  ($471.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler  ($88.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Asus PRIME Z390-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($177.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($95.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($43.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB BLACK GAMING Video Card  ($669.99 @ Newegg)

A plain looking PC with a GTX 2080 SUPER and 9900K will last a bit longer than an RGB galore PC with only a GTX 2070 SUPER and 9700K. The 9900K will most likely allow you to do several years of GPU upgrades before you need a CPU upgrade, too. Of course, it won't look as awesome, so it all depends on what you really want: aesthetics or longevity?

Also, the 200R, despite being a compact case, should be large enough to accommodate an air cooler the height of the Dark Rock Pro 4 (162.8 mm with 165 mm clearance). That said, having used this case, I'd say that buying another front intake fan certainly wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the input, I'll put it into consideration, but I'm also looking for an aesthetically pleasing build.

Then maybe get an 011 dyanimc and do custom water cooling.

But even factoring in an extra $100-200 for RGB, the PC doesn't need to cost that much.

Even threw in a 240hz display here, which is nice for fps games.

@Streetguru I have about $1800

Spending a lot more than that, really isn't going to get you that much more performance, especially for 1080p 144hz/240hz or even 1440p 144hz. or a 1440p 100hz ultra wide. The RX 5700 or 5700 XT is plenty for that.

How's your headset/mouse/keyboard? or even your chair or desk lol.

I mean it makes more sense to build for longevity though and you could still add some bling later,  much easier than adding a better GPU or CPU later.  However,  what you've chosen looks pretty decent also, specs wise for sure.

More RBG = more faster, apparently! ;)

Why not the EVGA Super?  Don't they have best warranty in town and it's cheaper?

Otherwise,  nice!

I'm going with this now

It's a waste to get a 2080 super for a 1080p 144hz display, the 2070 super would be more than enough already.

and the 9900K is at best only 5-10% faster than the 3700X with 3200-3600mhz RAM, despite the roughly $250 price increase.
