Hey, me and my dad are having problems with my pc. We have located the problem to my mobo.

current rig: strix x570-E

r7 3700x

strix 5700 XT

trident z neo rgb 2x16gb 3600mhz cl 16

250gig ssd

1tb hdd

thermaltake grand rgb 750w 80+gold psu

cooler master 360mr rgb 360mm aio

old rig:

i5 6400

asus 1050ti

240w psu

16gb some bad ram

My pc is in infinite boot loop. first mobo checks ram, ram okay, then cpu, cpu okay, then gpu, gpu okay, but it wont go to boot led. Pc wont post

-Have checked with one stick ram, have checked with old rig ram.

- Have tested with old rig gpu, have tested that the 5700 xt and 1050ti worked in old rig.

- took out ssd and hdd, still boot looping.

-Checked the psu by some watt meter and it worked, psu worked in old rig, i put my mobo on some newspaper and plugged one stick ram, amd stock cooler, cheched that the cables were fine, still boot looping.

So, the problem started happening, when i transported my pc to my friends lan party (had gpu on pcie slot and the pc was in tight carbon box).

i updated to latest bios to agesa 1.0.0.4 before the lan party. And restarted the pc and it worked fine, but in lan party it did not.

And btw im sad since my mobo costed almost 400 euro here in finland, and i cannot refund since i broke the lock of the pci-e slot, when trying to get my gpu out, sice it was stuck.

use different pcie slot, thers a big chance if its after bios update that that chip cant run the updated clock speeds at alll hence why boot cycling, u prolly need to flash it back

Cant flash it back, cannot acces bios and tried flashing with usb drive, did not work, did not work in ither pci e slot

yeh most likely cpu cant run the updated clockspeeds then, or it got voltage killed, u gonna need to get a 30$ cpu or somthing to flash it back probably ( i had to do that with my own board , but then to update it )

yeah but thats just the code checks, it will say that the cpu is ok even if u have too little voltage on the cpu , and just cant boot bcoz of unstable oc

it starts cycling past ram usually

cpu led is just for cpu initialization and microcode check

if it supports no cpu flashing then it hsouldnt be a huge problem, but if it doesnt then u need to flash with cpu / turned on system

it starts cyckling after vga led. And when booted for 10minutes it gives code 02.

And yeah my cpu was running at high voltages without even oc or touching settings

in manual of motherboard should be a troubleshoot list with error codes,  its probably pch initialization i guess from 02

I did not find anything useful to 02; AP initialization before microcode loading.

rip so u need to flash it back, should solve it, the old chip should boot most likely ( check cpu support list to make sure )

Can't he RMA the board? I mean this totally looks like faulty BIOS?

And Asus *have to* know it's faulty surely?

I mean didn't we even have a thread about that exact BIOS version

I'm not sure about that! It's a non critical component and it should still work.

  1. Warranty period may differ regionally, please check with your purchase point.
  2. Warranty invalid if damage/dysfunction caused by improper handling/usage, destruction;
  3. Warranty invalid if serial label is removed, broken;
  4. Warranty invalid if disassembly by end-user or non-ASUS-authorized repair centers.

5. Warranty still in effect if non critical part was damaged that stands in no relation whatsoever to the actual defect

Like are even serious right now lol

Where did you buy this board?

(not country,  store)

Hmm I see that doesn't tell me anything.

I'd just RMA it honestly,  if you tell them it's the BIOS they might not even care,  in the best case they'll just solder a new BIOS chip on the board, and this has literally nothing to do with a non critical plastic part elsewhere.

  1. Quote

    Warranty invalid if damage/dysfunction caused by improper handling/usage, destruction;

Also I think you misunderstood this.  That means precisely if the fault is caused by damage you have done the warranty is invalid.  Of course it is!

But all you did was update the bios,  has no bearing on the pci lock at all.

I'm not even sure it would be legal if they said something like "we can't fix this because you broke a completely unrelated part that didn't damage the board in any meaningful way"

Good luck tho ~
