Hi all,

It's been over 20 years since I played games on my PC and wanted to give DOOM a try (it's now on sale). But I am not sure my current system (read graphics card) can handle it. I don't need the ultimate experience, it's just for a bit of fun and nothing serious. I'm not a gamer as you can see.

Although my system is fairly new, my graphics card is not. But I would like your advice on my system and the abillity to play DOOM at the lowest level.

Here is a quick summary of my system:

Operating System
            Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
        CPU
AMD Ryzen 7 1700X  (first generation)

Modern DOOM is VERY VERY Vram dependent / hungry for 2GB GPU's or less... even at lower than medium settings
Says it will be fine, but it won't be great as an experience...

Almost annoying to run with Vram related stutters/textures loading in/swapping (also likely Having to use lower resolutions)

Aim for a 3-4GB GPU at least.

It's likely that anything above a HD7950 3GB or whatever Nvidia GPU thats 3GB or higher Vram... will play it relatively fine,..

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Get an RX 570. It's only about $130 for a new 4GB version, or $160 for an 8GB version. Either should be able to run DOOM at medium high settings quite well with your system.
