Hello all,

I am looking to get something such as an add-on PCIe card that allows me to control a machine on a different network. By controlling, I mean being able to turn on, off, and even being able to see what's on the screen, kinda like HP iLO, present on HPE servers. Is this a thing? The primary purpose of this, is to be able to turn on and off a machine, for remote access via RDP. I used to use a similar setup, a while ago, on my personal PC, and used a personal VPN server to send a WOL signal to my motherboard, but I found that the VPN server wasn't too reliable, and now, I actually have a different motherboard, which, very often, doesn't POST at the first time, which would be an issue.

Quote me so I can reply back :)

Unfortunately this exists very limitedly and what does exist isn't very good. @Den-Fi has had a go at trying to find some in the past. I myself have looked. Nothing good exists. Your best option would be to buy a motherboard with included IPMI/iLO/iDRAC.

That's a shame. I have previously used iLO in the past, and it's amazing, in my opinion, however, for what I need, an HP server is unnecessary.

ASRock Rack, ASUS, & Supermicro make motherboards with included IPMI. They have boards that use standard form factors so you can put them in any chassis.

If you didn't need GUI access, you could create a serial console server using something like a Raspberry Pi.
