Well, the focus of the computer is not for gaming and I don't know my stuff so naturally I just assumed the CPU would be more important.

It depends on the software. Most video, 3D, or photo based work will benefit greatly from a solid GPU. Hence 2070 Super.

The CPU IS important. Hence a 3700X (very solid 8 core / 16 thread unit.)

Indeed but he said 1200$ instead I think :P

In that case: you could do the 5700 XT or a 2060S dependent on software needs.

How's this? I changed up your build in little places to fit the pricing and availability in China. The build here in China would cost around $1399

Lol dude... you do what you want.

  • You're choosing to spend more on a 2TB HDD than the 3TB of the same unit that I linked.
  • 660p is inferior to the Sabrent Rocket. That might make sense if you were saving money, but you're spending more.
  • General consensus is that this case has poor airflow, though it is a popular choice. I like the nice clean look myself. The Meshify C or CM H500 are great choices.
  • RMx is a solid unit, but go check the PSU tier list. BitFenix Gold/Whisper and Straight Power 11 are higher quality and both cost less currently.

I linked the parts I did for a reason lol.

Just those parts aren't available in China.

Oh I see. I misunderstood.

In that case I dont think there are any blaring issues with what I see.

660p is solid enough, RMx is tried and true... you might look at some other case options if you see others around. (Its sexy, I know.)

Not entirely true, here's my take. You may want to consider buying in November 11th instead.

Taking JD.com for official pricing: price in RMB
Ryzen 3700X + MSI B450 Tomahawk bundle: 2909 https://item.jd.com/100003884551.html

Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz 16GBx2: 988 https://item.jd.com/55814654770.html#crumb-wrap

Sapphire pulse 5700 XT: 3099 https://item.jd.com/100007306846.html

Intel 660p 1TB: 829 https://item.jd.com/100002088263.html

NZXT H510: 459 https://item.jd.com/100006771184.html

Corsair RM 550X: 599 https://item.jd.com/6757757.html

That's a total of 8883 RMB or 1268 USD, well within your upper budget and close to your lower one.

Specs: Motherboard: Asus X470-PLUS TUF gaming (Yes I know it's poor but I wasn't informed) RAM: Corsair VENGEANCE® LPX DDR4 3200Mhz CL16-18-18-36 2x8GB

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X          Case: Antec P8     PSU: Corsair RM850x                        Cooler: Antec K240 with two Noctura Industrial PPC 3000 PWM

Drives: Samsung 970 EVO plus 250GB, Micron 1100 2TB, Seagate ST4000DM000/1F2168 GPU: EVGA RTX 2080 ti Black edition

By, the parts weren't available, I meant the parts from the list that trevb0t gave me. Buying on Nov 11 seems like a good idea which I can pass on to my friend, thx.

Are parts cheaper in the US though? Because my friend has the option to buy the PC next school year in the US, he just wants to buy it now.

By next school year, part recommendations will likely have changed.

Linus has pretty much indicated that China has FANTASTIC prices on PC parts.

How are the shipping fees to the US, because my friend is going to have to ship the PC to the US next year, also, is there tax when buying in the US?

Is the h210 good? Because my friend could go with a mini itx build.

Welp, my friend decided not to build a PC in China because he did a bit of searching around and shipping fees cost a hell ton and buying a PC in china then shipping it to the US will cost a lot more than just waiting to buy it in the US.

Sales tax would depend where in the US it is purchased.

He could pack it neatly into a suitcase and bring it as a carry on to his flight if he didnt wanna ship it.

Same issue as with all of their units: very little intake and not intelligently placed. (Plenty of people own them, and I'm sure their PCs aren't exploding lol.)

Node 202 would be my choice of Mini ITX. Meshify Mini is a great mini tower option.

Also, do I have to buy thermal paste and case fans?

The included cooler will come with some thermal paste pre-applied. If you want something specific, you'd need to grab a tube.

Some cases come with pre-installed case fans. (MB511 is a great option.) With the NZXT unit, it will come with an exhaust fan. So maybe 2 120mm intake fans would be a good idea.

Thx for the advice, my friend said he's gonna build his PC next year because it's safer for him and the parts will probably be better.
