Surely if you move to a country where you may have to pay for medical bills, you would take out insurance to cover it. And if you don't, it's your own fault when you can't afford it

And if to that you say "well maybe he couldn't afford it", well maybe he shouldn't have moved from a country with free/cheap health-care

 

That would be like me moving to the US, not taking out medical insurance then complaining because I have to pay $50k to see a doctor!

Nobody said you have to thats the point of the word donation. And even if you had insurance you still can struggle with the cost as insurance often doesn't cover all of it and the insurance company is going to try to avoid paying as much as possible through loopholes. What was that you got rushed to a hospital outside of our network? We are not paying. What was that you got an emergency x-ray because you were dying before consulting with one of our general practitioners first? Sorry we are not paying. What was that you breathed the air in our hospital without getting our signature on a permission form? sorry we are not paying and charging you for the air. Ok maybe not that last one but you get the idea

As someone else said you still have to pay 20%
