Benq cant go to 144hz after chaning gpu

N0way323

Hello guys my current monitor is BqnQ XL2411Z 144hz i have used it already for about 2/3 years and everything was working fine but after i have change gpu from radeon rx480 8gb to nvidia rtx2070 super msi. My monitor have stuck in 60hz i have tried to change it in NVIDIA control panel and display settings from desktop. i have bought special cable for that as rtx2070msi dont have dvi port and my monitor dont have dp. Cable i bought was one side DVI and second was DP. It wasn't work. then after reading other advice's i have bought extension cable from my main monitor which is dvi on on both sides and extension have one slot for dvi cable and second part have just DP. Anyone have idea how can i make this 144hz work? i have even done format and check drivers few times

As always lets start with the basic.

You went from AMD to nVidia so... did you DDU in safe mode before installing nVidia drivers?

Yes it very much matters I am afraid, DDU in safe mode is a crucial step when replacing your GPU for a new one from a different architecture.

yeah if you have both drivers then it messes things up, like the issue you're having right now.

Don't just uninstall the driver with AMD, use what Luna said (DDU/Display Driver Uninstaller). There's directions on the site where you can get the program from.

Display driver uninstaller, there's plenty of guides in YouTube.

are u sure it was a dual link dvi cable and not a single link?

Single link DVI employs a single 165 MHz transmitter that supports resolutions up to 1920 × 1200 at 60 Hz. Dual link DVI adds six pins, at the center of the connector, for a second transmitter increasing the bandwidth and supporting resolutions up to 2560 × 1600 at 60 Hz.

also i dont think dual link dvi will even hit 144hz on 1080p

most likely ul need dp to hdmi 2.0 and t hen ul be limited to 120hz coz hdmi limited on 120hz

yes. as i said above i have using this very same monitor and cable for past 2 years and it was working normally with radeon on 144hz and benq monitor have only one type dvi to plug in so it would be impossible to plugin different dvi

from what everyone is saying hdmi is limited to 60hz so it wouldn't work as well

edit: nvm you are right above 1.4hdmi would work but for older monitors like my benq it wont as it not supporting 1.4 and newer hdmi
