Crashing When Loading Any Game.

TreyYaBoy

When loading a game my system goes black and restarts as if nothing happened. it worked fine before. is there any reason it would randomly do this only when trying to load a game? Temps never get above 55c.

SPECS:

RX 590

Ryzen 5 3600

500gb WD blue SSD NAND

600w thermaltake 80+ power supply

16gb ADATA XPG 3000mhz RAM

Set your bios to default, especially any RAM overclocks

maybe consider reinstalling windows.

go into wattman and set your GPU power target to 50% to see if it's your power supply.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Will do, as i mentioned i have nothing overclocked, the ram is even running at 2666mhz as its advertised as 3000mhz.

maybe even set it to 2133mhz then if it's not the power supply.

Or there could simply be a problem with the RAM, you can try running a RAM stress test

You can also check your windows event log for the errors it's giving.

Something might be wrong with your GPU's memory then

try underclocking the memory in wattman if possible, or adding a bit more voltage to it like +0050mV

and maybe reset the PC one more time.

Will do, could this possibly be hardware failure? I loaded a game of apex and it worked fine max temp 62c on the gpu and max cpu usage of 30%. Didnt get any flickering until i restarted the game. Now anytime i load it, it flickers. Not trying to spam im just trying to give you as much info as you need, appreciate the help

Actually I don't think you can actually change the memory voltage on vega, so just try underclocking it by like 100mhz.

like it's in wattman but it just doesn't work maybe.

Or try older or newer drivers maybe.

I have underclocked the memory for the gpu by 100mhz, testing now.

After raising the power limit and underclocking the memory it still flickers

Have you had the system for a while or did you just put it together?

vega was a different thread lol.

You could try running games under linux to see if it's a windows issue for some reason, but mostly you'd want to try a different GPU or maybe just a different PCI-e slot if possible.

Also what happened if you set your GPU power limit to 50% to see if it's the power supply, that way it's stressed less.

AMD radeon settings has also sent a notification that states: "default radeon wattman settings have been restored due to an unexpected system failure"

Maybe blame the PSU then, they're usually pretty low end in those systems. You'll know it's the PSU if putting your GPU at half power works fine

I would highly suggest just returning it and building your own PC if possible though, how much was it and what country?

Also i do not have a secondary pci-e slot nor another graphics card as my cpu doesnt have onboard graphics

U.S and ran me around 899$, with tax 950$ would it be possible to replace said PSU with a higher end one?

You can get an RX 5700 with a budget like that, the motherboard has USB bios flashing so you don't need a spare CPU.

What motherboard does the pre-built have? and what is the case?

You can just try replacing the PSU, or maybe a local PC shop will let you borrow one, but I'd highly suggest just returning the system.

That case has like no airflow, and that motherboard has no VRM heatsinks

Is returning it and building your own an option at all?

Setting the power limit to half does not fix the flickering, can i rule out the psu?

Probably, might just be the GPU itself then
